Of course, if online dating sites didn't offer many benefits to their users, online dating would have never become that popular. Online dating sites have many advantages, some of which are:

And since similar interests are a prerequisite for a happy, long-term relationship, online dating sites are really great.
- Requires less time and money than traditional dating. For people, who are busy, online dating sites have one more advantage – no need to go out on a date. This saves both time and money and for many people the convenience of online dating sites is really of high value.

But as everything in life, online dating sites are not only glitter and glory. Unfortunately, they do have their traps and when one doesn't know how to avoid them, online dating could turn into a nasty experience. Here are some of the traps of online dating sites:
- There are many scammers. Online dating sites attract not only the guys and girls who are looking for a soulmate but many scammers and other criminals. Therefore, if daters are careful whom they communicate with and above all – whom they meet in person, the traps of online dating are easier to avoid.
- No guarantee the site delivers as promised. Online dating sites are not the only places where people pay and don't get what they were promised to. It is not true to say that all those paid membership sites are just a way to pump some cash from daters, but some caution before paying a hefty membership fee is always necessary.
- Personal data is not always adequately protected. For people, who are concerned about the privacy of their private data, online dating sites are certainly not the place to go. Very often people voluntarily disclose private data and later are unpleasantly surprised to see it has been misused.
Online dating sites do have a lot of advantages but their traps are not to be neglected. So, everybody, who considers joining an online dating site should weigh the pros and cons and decide if it is good or bad for him or her to do it.
