Here you are looking for your life partner with whom you want to share your life! Don't you think it will be better if your photo revealed a glimpse of your personality?

So, you have finally made up your mind about tying the knot? But you have not found the “right one” as yet, and like so many other young people of today, you turn to an online matrimonial site to begin your search. The site says, chances of response improve if you submit a photo. So you go ahead and attach with your profile that passport size photo you had got clicked when you were hunting for jobs. You ask, why not? After all, it served its purpose when I got this lucrative job, so it must be functional enough! Is it? Think again. Here you are looking for your life partner, that probable person with whom you want to spend the rest of your life! Don’t you think it will be better if your photo revealed to the viewer a glimpse of your personality?

So where does photo retouching come into the picture?

Well often it so happens that the person who originally shot the photograph was just your friendly neighborhood photographer, who obliges you with instant passport size photos when you are really in a rush. Rarely does a regular Joe go to a fully professional photographer to get a proper portfolio clicked for posting in a matrimonial site. Where is the time for taking all that trouble? And often the end result is a photo which:

  • shows your dark circles a little too prominently
  • Or makes your complexion come across as quite a few shades darker than it actually is!
  • Or may be the marks of that long forgotten teenage bout of acne are a little too jarring!
  • Worse still, the light fell on the camera lens from the wrong angle, and you are left with a photo with “red eyes”, which make you come across as a person with impaired vision.

So what to do?

Remember, the first impression, is sadly enough, in more cases than not, the last one. You may feel that if a person judges you by your looks only, and does not take into consideration your personal tastes and opinions as reflected in your profile, may not be a suitable partner. But then, it is said that the face is the mirror of the soul! A good profile picture is of immense importance if you are in the lookout for a like-minded person with whom you want to share your life.

The simplest option is to resort to photo retouching. Retouching adds an artistic touch that enhances the subtle charm of your appearance. There are numerous professional services available online, who do the job for a reasonable fees.

Or else, if you are a pro and have the time, you may consider getting hold of any of the retouching software available and add those finishing touches to your snap yourself. There are many tutorials available online to help you with your project. You may also share tips and tricks with other digital artists.

Go ahead, put your best face forward and flaunt your finest profile!
